Lady Gaga is well known for her love for monsters and now her army is joined by new plant species.

It is not her new album theme but a recent report from Duke University has stated that the Botanists at the university have honored the pop-star by naming a new genus of plants after her.

The genus has 19 species which could be found in Central and South America, Mexico, Arizona and Texas.

The pop-culture savvy botanists announced the news on Tuesday. “We wanted to name a genus for Lady Gaga because of her fervent defense of equality and individual expression.” said Kathleer Pryer, a professor of biology at Duke University and director of herbarium.

And as they stared, the ferns themselves gave many reasons to consider the name. At one stage of life the new ferns genus has ‘somewhat fluid definitions of gender’. Also the ferns have GAGA sequence in distinct DNA base pairs.

Certainly the scientists have found her second album, ‘Born this Way’ enormously empowering. Names of the new species include Gaga germanotta, a nod to her real name Stefani Germanotta and Gaga monstraparva, which translates to little monsters the singer calls her fans.

Nothing has been said by Gaga about the honored nomenclature. But the news surely ‘left her speechless.’
